The honorable, Accra Circuit Court ordered lifetime imprisonment of a policeman and three others for ransacking a supermarket at Nungua in Accra on December 12, 2017.
It was set up, amid the preliminary, that the convicts Corporal Raymond Amegashie, Ibrahim Ayirebo, Bright Dorkanu, and Stanley Akorli entered the supermarket in the midst of sporadic shooting and burglarized the proprietor of GH¢45,000 and $1,000.
Cpl Amegashie was yesterday slapped with a 20-year correctional facility term; Ayirebo will serve 18 years in jail, while Dorkanu and Akorli will each serve 16 years in jail.
The four had argued not liable to scheme to burglarize and theft, however, the court, managed by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh, discovered them liable of the two charges.
Every one of the convicts will serve the separate sentence for the two charges, which will run simultaneously. Conveying his judgment, Mr. Tandoh held that the indictment drove proof to build up the blame of the charged people past sensible uncertainty. As per him, proof on record demonstrated that the four assumed separate jobs in the theft, with Cpl Amegashie going about as the pioneer of the group.
