Torrential rains triggered flash flooding which brought havoc in southern Iran. At least 19 people reported dead while more than 100 injured after muddy water rose in the city of Shiraz, the most hit place by the floods.

More than hundreds of building infrastructure has destroyed while cars swept through the floods. People also took shelter on lamp posts and top of the cars to avoid the flood. Iran’s Judiciary Chief, Ebrahim Raisi said that: “any shortcomings regarding the handling of the floods, failure to provide relief and aid to the survivors will be investigated”.
Fars province governor said that rescue teams have reached on the worst-hit zones to help in the rescue efforts. Meanwhile, he also requested the people to stay at their home to avoid more injuries.
The metrological department has predicted about more torrential rain in the north and east of Iran. The Government has issued flood warnings in all areas including capital Tehran.
More than 56, 000 people affected in the cities and the villages of Golestan and Mazandaran provinces. In 2018, flash floods have killed more than 30 people in the Eastern Azerbaijan province.
