International Women’s Day(IWD) is celebrated on 8 March each year around the world. Thousands of male and females congregated across the globe to celebrate with some also protested to address the feminist issues.
Turkey has banned IWD but protesters still flooded the roads in Istanbul.
They protested against the gender pay gap, violence against women and girls, and abortion rights issues.in many areas around the world, heavy police deployed on the scene leading to peaceful demonstrations.
There was also a formal holiday in the German capital Berlin. Women from all around the globe regardless of their religion, races and ages participated in the annual day.
Turkey has banned IWD but protesters still flooded the roads in Istanbul. Meanwhile, Philippine women raised the question of President Rodrigo Duterte’s alleged misogyny. They also expressed concerns over his government’s war on drugs that caused the murder of many women and human rights violations.
Unions and feminist associations also requested for a two-hour strike. Moreover, thousands came out in Honduras and El Salvador to protest the continent’s highest rates of femicide.
Violet shade also represents feminism color.
