Today, Microsoft disclosed its plans that on May 31st it is going to kill off its Microsoft Band and Microsoft Health Dashboard apps and services. By this time, the wrist-worn Band fitness tracker had a discount for the previous couple of years, but the present users continued to have the company’s support of the Band apps. On May 31st, this whole thing is going to change, the backend services of which are supposed to end and the apps are scheduled to be taken out from the Apple’s App Store, Microsoft Store and Google Play.
The present users of the Band are capable of exporting their data earlier than May ends, and cloud powered services are supposed to stop their functioning in June. Still the Band users are supposed to be able to record workouts, daily steps and heart rate, together with alarm functionality, activity data and sleep tracking. Microsoft says that in case a Band user resets his device at that time it is not going to be possible for him to set up the device all over again.
While a refund from the software giant is supposed to be eligible for a number of Microsoft Band users. Microsoft is enabling its active users to apply for a refund on their hardware having synced data from a Health Dashboard’s Band from the dates between December 1st 2018 and March 1st 2019. A very astonishing thing for all the users is that Microsoft is giving out $79.99 for the owners of Band 1 devices, and $175 for Band 2 devices. In case your Microsoft Band device is having warranty, you will have the same refund options.
