Highlife artiste Ofori Amponsah has declared that though Highlife is going through a difficult time, it’s not over yet.
The ‘Otoolege’ artist in a recent interview said that new artists like King Promise, Kuami Eugene, and others, are using the highlife sound into their music.
As per the artist, Highlife legends like Ben Brako, A.B Crentsil, Amakye Dede and others don’t release new highlife music since they are disappointed.
He expressed, ” Sometimes, tiredness set in when you have been in the industry for so long and as you grow priorities change”.
Nonetheless, this attestation of Ofori Amponsah goes in opposition to the feeling of numerous individuals in the business.
Music Producer, Zap Mallet, in a meeting in 2018 said the highlife music will bite the dust soon on the grounds that it has not been focused and promoted to the more youthful age.
He clarified for the human age to grow, one needs to replicate and the equivalent applies to the Ghanaian Highlife sound.
He expressed, ” I can count the number of people who can play highlife guitar in my hands, so what are we doing? We are killing our arts, we are not breeding and not reproducing “.
