A device, carried by a militant, detonated in Cairo, Egypt and left at least three people dead including the militant while several other people also injured.
Several civilians also injured in Egypt blast.
A statement from the interior ministry has confirmed the death toll. Two of the dead were policemen who were chasing the militant at the time of the explosion.
Two security sources informed that the explosion took place in Cairo’s historic center near the Al Azhar mosque. Several people also injured in the blast.
A statement from the ministry detailed that the forces were chasing a suspected man in a bid to find the culprit behind the attack on the police patrol in western Cairo.
They caught the suspect near Al Azhar mosque but he has many explosives devices with him. Meanwhile, one of the devices exploded which lead to the death of terrorist and two of the policemen. One of the policemen belongs to national security while another came from Cairo investigations.
Earlier in Friday attack, two policeman and three civilians injured when a bomb blasted in an attempt to defuse it. Attacks in Cairo are comparatively rare. However, three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian guide killed in a roadside bomb in Giza last December.
