At MWC 2019, LG is going to present the G8 ThinQ flagship and today the manufacturer disclosed that the phone is supposed to be here having ToF front-facing camera. The German technology company Infineon has created the sensor and although no technical details are yet out regarding the sensor at all, LG said that it is going to provide an extra level of front camera capability in any of the smartphone.
The Infineon ToF sensor chip is supposed to provide the measurements by taking infrared light, as it gets reflected from the face. This thing suggests that it is going to be more effective in dim light and is going to lower down the workload on the processor, in that way reducing the power consumption too. ToF is supposed to be used for some VR applications and further secure face unlock.
As president at Infineon’s Power Management & Multimarket division, Andreas Urschitz, says, the 3D cameras are supposed to be present in almost all of the smartphones in the duration of the coming five years and the a noteworthy share is to be contributed by the German company.
