Qualcomm declared the latest addition to its chipset portfolio – which is the Snapdragon 712. 10 nm process manufactures it and it is here as a modest upgrade to the very common Snapdragon 710. It features a much faster octa-core processor that further carries with it a performance boost and makes it the powerhouse for the games and much more.
The most important variation is that now the eight Kryo 360 cores of the CPU run at 2.3 GHz as weighed against the 2.2 GHz. The 712 further carries with it Quick Charge 4+ rather than Quick Charge 4 and much improved Bluetooth audio, all credit of which goes to the Broadcast Audio and TrueWireless Stereo Plus technologies.
The Adreno 616 GPU is still featured by the Snapdragon 712, in addition to the Hexagon 685 DSP, on top of almost all of the other specs. The modem continues to be a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X15 that supports Cat.13 uplink and LTE Cat.15 downlink, able to go upto the maximum speeds of 150 Mbps and 800 Mbps, in that order. Camera support is able to stay at 32 MP single shooter and up to 20 MP dual camera featuring the similar Spectra 250 ISP.
