Android Authority revealed today that FCC has permitted Google to test the latest radar motion sensor technology. It is named as Project Soli and is able to enable the users to operate devices not having the need to really touch anything by means of radar signals.
The technology is very much different as to what was introduced by Samsung back in 2013 seeing the Galaxy S4 and the gestures present on top of the screen. At that time, the Korean company put the camera sensors to use, whereas now Google is planning to introduce radar sensitivity that reads all sorts of gestures made by hand in the air. The use of higher frequencies is the reason for FCC to agree to the testing of this kind of technology.
The report says that Google wished to operate at a limited capacity but within the 57 to 64 GHz band. The order further declared that this type of technology is able to be used for weather forecasting and in airplanes, telling us that this time the company’s target is much higher than simply swiping on Tinder not having the need to touch the screen. All the same, the project appears to be ahead of its time, and we all wait for it to get a bright future for us.
