Catholic Church in Spain has dismissed a man who was performing as a priest for the 18 years.
Despite having being ordained he carried out weddings and baptisms in churches in Colombia and Southern Spain.
Miguel Angel Ibarra was found to be fake after a complaint was filed in Colombia .
The Church says the weddings and baptisms will still be recognized. Miguel Angel said that he forgot his documents.
According to Church officials of Spain, it was found after thorough investigation that he had never been ordained and he has now been ordered to return to Colombia.
Last October Mr Miguel Angel Ibarra moved to Spain, settling in the town of Medina-Sidonia, which is home to more than 11,000 people.
The local bishopric said in a statement, “events like this could outshine the parishioners work and ordained priests, who serve the Church every day in an exemplary way.
This is not the first time someone has been caught in the act of pretending to be a Catholic priest in Spain. Before this in 2008, a man who had not been ordained was found to be hearing confessions in St Peter’s Basilica Church in the Vatican.
The Italian authorities checked his documents, and thus he was unmasked finally.
