Manaus authorities reported that there was a huge fire blazed Tuesday next to a river in Brazil’s Amazon region in 600 wooden homes built on stilts. It destroyed a poor area of the city of Manaus but causing no deaths.
Deputy Chief of the local emergency service, Hermogenes Rabelo said, it’s perhaps the biggest city fire in the history of Manaus.
The security secretariat for Amazonas state said, fire started on Monday and after 3 hour more than 100 firefighters struggled hard to bring fire under control and was only brought under control shortly after midnight. Four people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire blazed in a heavy populated district Educandos near the Manaus near the Rio Negro River that flows to the Atlantic Ocean after joining Amazon River.
It was very difficult for the fire services to get access the affected area due to the narrow path. It a being assumed that fire started due to a pressure cooker blasted that resulted fire and it spread due to heavy wind direction.
