Thousands of protesters have protested on Brussels roads against a UN migration pact which turns violent on many places.
The march occurred in an area of Brussels with many EU institutions against UN migration pact.
Flemish right-wing parties’ involvement triggered the march. It carried out near major EU institutions over concerns that the UN migration pact can result in an increase in immigration.
Police further used tear gas and water cannon to control the violence at some places. Almost 5,500 protesters took part in Brussels protest.
Left-wing groups and charities also organized a counter-protest in the city Centre which drew about 1,000 people.
196 UN members settled in July on ‘the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration’.
Last week it was signed by 164 countries in Marrakech. The US, including Austria, Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Slovakia refused to accept the agreement.
The agreement also pursues an international method to migration that “reaffirms the sovereign rights of states to determine their national migration policy” and states the status of legal migration.
However, in Europe critics believed that it will lead to bigger immigration to the continent.
