Australia will soon recognize West Jerusalem as the Israel capital, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed.
He said, until there is no peace settled in the country, the Australian embassy would not move from Tel Aviv. Before this, the Palestinians aim to a state with a capital in East Jerusalem also recognized by the Australia.
Israel and the Palestinians faced the issue regarding status of Jerusalem.
Bill Shorten, Opposition Labor party leader told that he would turn around the decision if they won elections in the coming year.
Last year, the US President Donald Trump was criticized when he reversed the American foreign policy by recognizing the Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel. In May this year, the US embassy transferred from the Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Announcement of the Australian Prime Minister comes after a consultation period with the politicians in Australia.
Mr Morrison, said while speaking in Sydney on Saturday, Australia now recognizes West Jerusalem, being the seat of the Knesset and many of the institutions of government, is the capital of Israel
He added that we look forward to move our embassy to West Jerusalem after final determination.
A defense and trade office will be established in the interim Australia soon, according to the Prime Minister.
