While serving with the military in Afghanistan, a US mayor has been killed in an obvious insider attack. Brent Taylor, the US Mayor who is 39 years old, has been died in Kabul on Saturday while serving in the US Army National Guard and help in training the members of the Afghan security forces.
Utah, the US mayor of North Ogden, left behind a wife and 7 young children. In the past two weeks, the second insider attack happened against US forces in Afghanistan one more service member was wounded during the shooting.
According to the Utah National Guard, the attacker was appeared to have been a member of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces. He was shot dead by other Afghan forces after he open fire.
In a statement from the family of Taylor, they thanked the public for the “expressing the love and support during this indescribably hard time. As one of many, many military families to give the crucial time and sacrifice they also want to express their love for this great nation and the pride that they feel knowing that Brent gave his life in service to his country.
Speaking outside the family home of US Mayor, which was decorated with American flags, his sister-in-law Kristy Pack said: “We are overwhelmed with heartache, but not regret.” Mr Taylor, who held the Army rank of major, enlisted in the military along with his 5 brothers after the 11 September 2001 attacks. Before his final tour in Afghanistan, he had served twice in Iraq and one time before in Afghanistan.
