For the people of Nvellenu in the Jomoro District of the Western Region, the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC), in partnership with the Cuyahoga Valley Church (CVC), Cleveland Ohio, USA, has specially made the first phase of an ultra-modern hospital.
The Nzema Baptist Hospital, built at a cost of $760,000, it has lots of facilities like a theatre, dispensary/pharmacy, emergency, maternity and recovery wards, injection room, ultra-sound scan, consulting rooms, a laboratory and records office.
With one hundred and eighty bed health facility, hospital is planned to serve the people of Jomoro Municipal, Ellembele and Nzema East Districts.
Rev.Washington Komla Darke, the Vice President of GBC, explained that the church exists to meet the spiritual and socio-economic needs of people all the way through strong and lively structures and institutions, and in cooperation with related bodies.
He explained that the church has committed itself to carry on complementing government’s effort of dropping the mother and child mortality rate, controlling the spread of preventable diseases such as HIV and AIDS and malaria.
He further said that this they will do through provision of health facilities and programmes that will help the population.
Rev. Darke further added that the gathering and its international mission board partners for the past sixty years have complemented the try of government in the provision of quality healthcare for the people of Nalerigu through the Baptist Medical Centre (BMC).
Rev. Darke said the CVC group recognizes that healthcare facility is a serious need for the public of Nzema.
