Premier League is up and running. Manchester City have started their defense of the title in magnificent fashion with an emphatic 2 goal victory over Arsenal. Huddersfield on the other hand endured a tough start as they were on the wrong end of the 3-0 thrashing at Chelsea.
Gaurdiola faces a big blow as KDB damaged a knee ligament in training session earlier this week and is set to miss out on at least two months of action down to the injury. De Bruyne joined the team after his extended summer break after helping his nation to a 3rd place finish in FIFA World Cup 2018. Gundogan and Bernardo will likely start in the midfield for Manchester City. Leroy Sane is likely start after being benched against Arsenal. Pep is unlikely to tweak much with the team he fielded against Arsenal.
Huddersfield were in fine form heading into new season going five games unbeaten in their last 5 preseason games but came crashing down after their 3-0 loss to Chelsea. Ben Hamer started ahead of Jonas Lossl against Chelsea and is likely to retain his spot against Manchester City. Hudersfield are likely to go all out defense against the reigning champions with 5 at the back instead of 3. David Wagner’s men will have to dig deep to salvage anything from this fixture.
Both teams are almost equal on head to head stats with Manchester City having slight edge over the Terriers. The Citizens have managed 26 wins from 78 fixtures while Huddersfield won 22 times. However, recently, Manchester City are far ahead of their counterparts. Both sides met in FA cup and league fixtures last year and Man city came out on top on all occasions except for the goalless draw at Etihad stadium.
Keeping the head to head record and current form of both teams in mind, there is only one winner, Manchester City. Huddersfield lost 3-0 to Chelsea while City won 2-0 against Arsenal. Manchester City are likely to continue their fine form.
