Having the future announcements for the OnePlus 6 and LG G7 ThinQ, it may be very much easy to not remember that still there are two big brands that in line that haven’t made their play yet, namely HTC and Motorola. Given its ongoing financial crisis, HTC’s destiny is maybe somewhat more interesting. The HTC U12, or U12+, though, yet has to even display its shadow but it appears as if that someone over at Verizon has got little bit too excited. A particular HTC U12 in a few words turned up at the Carrier’s Open Development site, the same site that has by chance disclosed the existence of 128 GB and 256 GB versions to be there of the Galaxy S9.
It states that the HTC U12 is going to have a 6.0-inch WQHD frame less display, maybe similar as to the HTC U11+ before it. It is also going to run Android 8.0 having HTC Sense, naturally. A 3,500 mAh battery is there which is certainly reassuring and IP68 water and dust proof rating.
From that point, things start to get somewhat confusing. It is known to support only equal to LTE Cat 12, which is far too below the Snapdragon 845’s Cat 18. Another thing is that there is just Quick Charge 1.0 support, not even version 2.0 too less the most recent 4+. Unfortunately, nothing is there on Verizon’s website that gives answers to the biggest question of all: is there supposed to be a notch?
The HTC U12, or U12+, may prove to be one and only flagship by this company for this year. Whether it is going to be HTC’s last smartphone is the thing that perhaps depend on if the U12 is supposed to be able to present something that this year’s premium lineup up to now haven’t.
