Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran has called its ally Syria’s situation very complicated which can cause to erupt a wider regional war.
Mr Araghchi claimed that Iran is in Syria to fight with terrorist elements at the request of the Syrian government
Abbas Araghchi expressed that “Fear of war is everywhere in our region”. His statement comes in response to warnings by Israel and the US in excess of Iran’s presence in Syria.
According to Mr Araghchi, Iran presence in Syria has the aim to fight terrorism. He also dismissed warnings about Iran’s purposes as propaganda. “Just imagine if we were not there. Now you would have Daesh in Damascus and maybe in Beirut and other places”.
He further condemned the alarming situation in Damascus suburb of Ghouta where scores of civilians lost their lives in Syrian bombing.
Mr Araghchi claimed that Iran wants to fight with terrorist elements in Syria at the request of the Syrian government. On the other hand, its association with Syria and Lebanese militant group Hezbollah meant to fight the hegemonic strategies of Israel.
He also rejected the claims that Iran had directed a drone into Israeli airspace from Syria. This is because the drone belonged to Syrian army.
Earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Iran the greatest threat to our world. However, Mr Araghchi responded that Israel was flying drones over Syria and its adjacent countries.
“They shouldn’t be angry when they are faced with something that they are doing against others on a daily basis”.
