WhatsApp, the smart messaging application, now gets supported by CarPlay, Apple’s automotive platform. The app has achieved to become the first ever non-Apple messaging app to get in the new universe.
WhatsApp’s most recent version 2.18.20 is going to automatically get displayed as an app when your iPhone gets connected to CarPlay. It is going to work same as any other messaging app because of Apple’s rather strict rules for CarPlay messaging apps.
For WhatsApp, the CarPlay app is supposed to be badged with the number of latest unread messages. Notifications get displayed onscreen having name of the sender; the users can simply tap in order to hear Siri speak the contents present in the message. In addition, WhatsApp is present there in the multitasking bar in the CarPlay sidebar, there in the slot for phone and messaging apps. This enables the users to speedily switch between tasks at the same time as they are driving.
As stated in the report, the single actual difference seen between the Apple’s own iMessage app and WhatsApp implementation is that WhatsApp does not have the capability of going through a list of message threads.
CarPlay is a latest technology that is at present getting built into a lot of new cars (aftermarket solutions presented) so as to bring the necessary components of the iPhone experience to the in-car display. It enables all the drivers to use features such as phone calls, music, messaging and Siri safely.
The new update has been now presented on iOS devices.
