There appears to be the latest pattern among several of the smaller and the newer players in the smartphone market. Unveil a phone having “decent”, at times even a gloomy camera performance and afterwards just assure a firmware update to repair it all sometimes after that. That fix is always here, in the end, but at times the results are less than sufficient. Luckily there are several quite devoted app developers, such as XDA Senior Member txx1219, who have created several mods, same as this OnePlus Camera M, which takes the unsatisfactory stock OEM camera app and it then converts it into something good just by magic.
The performance of OnePlus in the smartphone photography class has been hit or miss, it all rests on who you inquire. All the times, the company teases and hypes its upcoming gen phone’s camera but at times it falls short of meeting the expectations of the users. The most recent OnePlus 5 and the almost identical OnePlus 5T are not any exception. And whereas OnePlus did drive out updates so as to make the matter much better, several are still left wishing to have some further.
Many camera mods have been presented for these two. Actually, at present camera mods appear to have become the fresh craze in the Android Community, presenting functionality on the older phone models ripped from higher-end and much latest models. In this particular case however, no further latest model is there to take from. Rather, the Camera M mod just cranks up the settings, such as JPEG quality increasing up to 100, applying sharpness further than processing the picture, and many other such features.
The one disadvantage in this else tempting alternative is that it needs a rooted OnePlus 5/5T. Not simply any root, beware, but a Magisk-based one, for the reason that the mod is really a Magisk module. It further requires the original version of the OnePlus Camera app, so you are supposed to have to revert back to that version if you have got updated to it formerly. Unluckily, the one thing that it does not need is a OnePlus 5 or 5T phone, as it has assured that it will work on any AOSP-based ROM.
