By the weekend, two Twitter users of Germany were able to successfully break the present character limit by sending a 35,000-character tweet. By just formatting a message as a URL with very much nonsense, they absurdly infected the followers’ timelines. Twitter before long removed it, but for a short time, all the complaints about the length of 280-character tweets appeared to be unimportant in the face of such a monster.
User Timrasett together with one other user named HackneyYT discovered the exploit and tweeted out the very long message. The original one is not there now, but grateful to the power of the Internet Archive, you can see the colossus here in all its glory. Whereas the text appears very much nonsense, hidden inside are URL codifiers (notably a ‘.cc’ tucked in it), as a Twitter user pointed out.
