
In the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region, at least seven New Patriotic Party (NPP)
activists have been remanded in prison for a week. They face charges of disturbing the public peace by engaging in a riot and protesting against government with weapons.
The seven were engaged in raiding for plunder and part of a crowd who attacked the offices of Mohammed Bako, the District Chief Executive of the area, chased him out and locked his office.
The DCE, Mohammed Bako seeks refuge at the Police station.
The reason behind the attack is youth worked so hard to bring the NPP to power. They charged the DCE of failing to provide them with jobs after so many hard works. They supposed the DCE was favoring non-party members in the provision of jobs instead of giving them.
The youth getting freedom from punishment in our culture, the NPP activists who are also leaders of the Concerned NPP Youth of Sissala West entered the office of the DCE with large number of people and left him running for his dear life.
On Wednesday, at least seven of them were arrested and brought before court.
They are the Constituency Chairman, Bukari Dramani, Constituency Treasurer, Mahamaudu
Forkah, Nassara Coordinator, Walika Iddrisu, Polling Station chairman, Alidu. The rest are government appointee Amadu Sumani Zaato, Suley Mohammed, Mental Health Nurse and Gbemmie Lukeman.
