Callum McGregor, the Celtic midfielder has been called into Scotland’s squad for their final World Cup Qualifiers.
On Saturday, the 24-year-old, scored twice to preserve Celtic’s unbeaten record in the 2-2 draw with Hibernian. These goals took his tally to six goals in 15 appearances this season.
Gordon Strachan, the Scotland head coach has now opted to draft the player into the squad to face Slovakia and Slovenia, with McGregor’s club team-mates Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong ruled out through injury.
During the 3-0 Champions League win over Anderlecht in midweek, Brown came off 20 minutes from time while last Saturday, Armstrong played the full 90 minutes at Ibrox suffered a calf injury during the warm-up in Brussels.
On Friday, the Scottish FA said they were no plans to bring in cover “at this point in time”. Strachan had named a 25-man squad on Monday.
