The latest update to the Google Drive app brings in support for the new Files app in iOS 11. The company declared full integration with Drive in a blog post this very morning.
The company stated that with the latest version of the Drive app installed, the users can access easily and manage their photos and documents saved in Drive simply by opening up the Files app on their iOS device. If the users have Sheets, Google Docs or Slides apps installed together with it, tapping on any spreadsheet, Google document, or presentation in the Files app will open the app of the linked Google editor. The users can also take benefit of new iOS 11 features such as dragging and dropping files among apps and folders in the Files App.
Which thing is New in Version 4.2017.37510:
• you can access, organize and share your files in Google Drive, now linked to the iOS 11 Files app.
Google Drive can be downloaded from the App Store for free now.
After an earlier update to Google Drive previously in this month, the app became the default opener for many file types because of an open-in-place issue.
When users having the Google Drive app installed tried to open a DOCX file in Files or iCloud Drive, for instance, the Google Drive app would automatically open and prompt the user to save the file in that specific app.
