The first written accounts of 8th century claims Ghana being the center of powerful kingdoms entailing the nearby African countries.
The Arab writers of eighth and ninth century gave Ghanaian territory as the ‘land of Kings’ and word ‘Ghana’ being the title of the ruler.
Nearly 500 miles northwest of modern Ghana existed the first real massive west African empire, followed the Islamic empires of Mali and Songhai.
Till late 11th century land of modern Ghana was a home to powerful kingdoms who had full control over Mali, Senegal and Mauritius.
Europe of that time was going through thick and thin amidst internal turmoils and cross border confrontations but land of Ghana was prospering all ends.
New trade routes were being explored and foreigners were attracted to this rapid growth courtesy of ‘Kings’ and rulers who paved the way towards prosperity.
This is also one of reasons why modern Ghana is multi cultural, multi ethnic and multi lingual.
Today’s Ghana entails all the surrounding cultures and is a perfect blend of pure class and rich traditions.
Beauty of Ghana doesn’t only lies in its natural reservoirs and resources such as Bui national park, Bosmutvi Lake and Lake Volta. But can be viewed in its dense and diverse cultural patterns, strong and rich history and love and respect for their ancestors.
