US Ambassador to Ghana, MR Robert P. Jackson has visited the Volta Region and appreciated the chiefs and people of Abutia Traditional Area for their zeal and communal spiritedness.
MR Robert praised them for their passion due to which water facility is still sustainable that provided to them six years ago.
Earlier, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) along with Rotary International mutually financed the construction of water system. This water system constructed with total cost of $2 million in 2011 to improve the water scarcity in area.
A 40-metre cube concrete reservoir to distribute water to 11 public standpipes was also built for the purpose to implement a durable sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene project under Global Development Alliance (GDA).
US Ambassador to Ghana is on visit of the Volta region to inspect USAID support projects. According to him, since the construction completed, Abutia-Teti community had added two more standpipes. He acknowledged that community has also extended water to the Senior High School and adjoining community.
Meanwhile, he said that water project in community topped among the success stories by the Embassy. The Ambassador also requested other communities to take indication from the example of Abutia experience.
Paramount Chief of Abutia Traditional Area, Togbe Abutia Kodzo Gidi V expressed gratitude to their sponsors efforts to support project.
