In the Italian city of Turin, about 1,000 people were injured as a firecracker provoked a stampede on Saturday night, police say.
In Cardiff, thousands of football fans were watching a live relay of Juventus’ Champions League final against Real Madrid when a bang was heard and rumours of an explosion spread. As the result of stampede at least 2 people, including a 7-year-old child, were seriously hurt.
Real won Champions League for the 12th time and this time they defeated Juventus 4-1. When 10 mins were left for the end of the 2nd half, crowds rushed away from the centre of Piazza San Carlo, crushing people against barriers. As people ran screaming out of the square, bags and shoes were left scattered on the ground.
According to latest updates a seven-year-old boy is reported to be in critical condition in hospital with head and chest injuries. Few injuries occurred when a barrier around the entrance to an underground car park gave way.
This incident brought back traumatic memories Juventus fans, of 1985 Heysel stadium disaster, where 39 people were killed when a wall collapsed on them before the European Cup final against Liverpool.
