Laxatives have powerful effects on the digestive health. There are many natural laxatives that can help treat and prevent constipation and promote regular bowel moment. Some of these laxatives are equally effective as over the counter ones.

Flax seeds contain both soluble and insoluble fiber which adds bulk to the stool and increase intestinal movement. One table spoon of flax seeds provide 2 gram of insoluble while 1 gram of soluble fiber.
Most varieties of berries contain fiber, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and black berries are all good source of fiver and act as a mild natural laxative. The American Dietary association recommends 25 grams of fiber for women and 38grams of fiber for men to add bulk to stool and prevent chronic diseases.
