Hong Kong has banned on Brazilian meat imports after a scandal over the sale of unhygienic produce in the South American country. At that time, Hong Kong is considered the biggest market of Brazilian meat.

Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety revealed that they had suspended the import of frozen and chilled meat and poultry for the time being. They took the decision in view of the fact that the quality of the Brazilian meat is in question.
The ban will implemented with immediate effect and we would stay in touch with Brazilian authorities for more information.
Earlier, the scandal flared up after Brazilian police revelation on Friday. Police revealed that they had found major meat producers who bribed health inspectors to certify contaminated food fit for consumption.
The European Union also banned on meat coming from four particular plants while Chile totally import ban the product. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has started testing all deliveries of raw beef and other meat products from Brazil for pathogens.
There are almost more than 30 countries to question Brazil about the matter, Brazilian Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi stated.
Being the world’s biggest beef and poultry exporting nation, Brazil is currently struggling to overcome its worst collapse in history.
