Francis Oti Akenten, the Technical Director of the GFA says that performance of the Black Stars at the 2017 AFCON has strengthened his belief that Ghana will win the title.
The Ghana National Team has qualified for the quarter finals with a game to spare. The team defeated Uganda and Mali 1-0 respectively, and will be playing against Egypt on Wednesday. The match on 25th of January will decide who finishes top of group D.
The Black Stars are striving hard to bring an end to a 35 year wait of the title of the AFCON champions. Oti Akenten says that the Black Stars are going about their business in a very calculated manner and if they continue to proceed in the same way, it will lead them to the trophy this year.
The Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association says, “The little discussion that I have had with the coach Avram Grant, I think the team is ready and we are waiting to see how it goes. From what we saw [in our game against Mali] if that is anything to go by, we [Ghana] stand a good chance in ultimately winning the cup.’’
He further added, “We know it is not going to be easy. We just started [the tournament] and can’t use one match to access countries or teams, so let’s wait for a little while but I think we are very much ready.’’
