Avram Grant, the Black Stars coach says that his side needs more luck in order to win AFCON 2017 title. The Black Stars are striving hard to bring an end to the 35-year period without a title.
Currently, the Black Stars are on the top of their group and have secured a place in quarter finals with a game to spare. The former West Ham and Chelsea boss has had some hard luck in finals in his coaching career.
The instances when his sides lost the finals includes a UEFA Champions League final loss as Chelsea manager, an English F.A. Cup final loss as Portsmouth manager and the recent AFCON final loss to Cote d’Ivoire.
The Israeli coach says that he is aiming for another final appearance in this tournament and has added that the outcome will be different if Ghana makes the final. Putting into his words, “This team and I, if I may say, have achieved a lot of things. I went to the final with Chelsea, where we were the better side, but lost on penalties.”
He added, “We were the better side last AFCON, everybody saw, but we lost on penalties. I came to the F. A Cup final with Portsmouth, against Chelsea, and we lost. So I think I’m lucky to have come this far, but I need a little bit more luck, but on the football side we did a very good job in all these tournaments.”
The Black Stars head coach says, “I hope that we do the same job here, but I know it will not be easy to come to the same stage. But if we come to this stage it will be different.”
On Wednesday, the Ghana National team will be facing Egypt in Port- Gentil and expects to progress further with 100% record.
