Christian Atsu, the Ghana winger is disappointed for not being able to score a goal for his side in the group opening match against Uganda.
Despite of lasting the entire duration the Newcastle United ace didn’t score a goal but won the Man of the Match award, as his side claimed a 1-0 victory at Stade de Port-Gentil.
The one and only goal was made by Andre Ayew and Atsu was left ruing several misses during the game. Christian Atsu has expressed his disappointment. The Winger says, “I keep working and keep praying to do my best. I was a bit tired but as the tournament goes on, we will get better and be able to play for longer periods.”
The winger says, “Personally, I am disappointed I was not on the score sheet. I got great chances to score but the win is all that matters. We were hoping to score more than just a goal in that game. In 2015, we lost our first game and won the last two, but this time, a win in this game makes things much easier for us.”
It is speculated that the player will also be playing in game against Mali in their second group game this Saturday. The player won the Best Player and Goal of the Tournament awards at the 2015 AFCON and is looking forward to perform even better than that this year.
