Saphir Taider, the Algeria’s influential midfielder has been ruled out of the AFCON after getting seriously injured during a training session.
On Thursday morning, the 24 year old, Bologna man will leave Algeria’s training camp and will head back to Italy for receiving treatment. However, the type of the injury he has got has not yet been revealed.
Moreover, it has also been reported that the defender Ramy Bensebaini, who plays for Stade Rennes in France, is also doubtful for the tournament due to a knee problem. Algeria will open its AFCON campaign on Sunday by playing a match against Zimbabwe.
Algeria has been placed in Group B for the AFCON 2017 along with Zimbabwe, North African rivals Tunisia and tournament favorites Senegal. However, Algeria has been the title winner just once in the year 1990 when they hosted the biennial showpiece.
