Uganda Cranes get salary of members of parliament to compensate the expenses of the nearing campaign AFCON 2017, commencing in mid-January.
Speaker of the Parliament – Rebecca Kadaga disclosed that they all decided to give a percentage of their salary to the Uganda Cranes to aid them for the tournament. The total of the money collected to donate the was calculated to be $58,451.
The Federation of Uganda had proposed the $2m budget for teams’ budget for AFCON 2017 government was only able to provide with $540,716.
The Uganda Cranes are already in UAE to face Ivory Coast as a pre-tournament friendly match to prepare their muscles for the nearing tournament. Uganda waits of 39 years to win the African crown has outlasted Ghana’s drought.
They will begin their action on 17th January against Black Stars, their first match in the contest. In the last month, Uganda has suffered from the financial crisis where Fa had to borrow funds for their camp in Tunisia.
