Avram Grant, the Black Stars coach has dropped 3 players from his 2017 provisional AFCON squad following the 3rd training session.
Joseph Attamah Laweh the Former Ghana youth international, Strikers Majeed Waris and Raphael Dwamena failed to be a part of the final squad.
The players in the Black Stars 2017 AFCON final squad include the goalkeeper Richard Ofori, midfielders Thomas Partey, Samuel Tetteh and Ebenezer Ofori, the defender Andy Yiadom as well strikers Bernard Tekpetey and Ebenezer Assifuah.
Majeed Waris, the Lorient striker missed the chance of being a part of the AFCON squad 2 years back because of an injury and has failed this time too. Dwamena and Attamah have been in great form for their clubs but still will have to wait for their Black Stars debut.
Only 16 players of the squad which represented the Black Stars in AFCON 2 years ago have been able to maintain their place in the team.
The Goalkeepers include: Razak Braimah (Cordoba, Spain), Fatau Dauda (Enyimba) Richard Ofori (Wa All Stars).
Harrison Afful (Columbus Crew, USA), Andy Yiadom (Barnsley, England), Baba Rahman (Schalke, Germany), Frank Acheampong (Anderlecht, Belgium), John Boye (Sivasspor, Turkey), Jonathan Mensah (Anzhi, Russia), Daniel Amartey (Leicester City, England), Edwin Gyimah (Orlando Pirates, South Africa) are the defenders.
The Selected Midfielders include Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu (Udinese, Italy), Afriyie Acquah (Torino, Italy), Thomas Partey (Atletico Madrid, Spain) Mubarak Wakaso (Panathinaikos, Greece), Christian Atsu (Newcastle, England), Ebenezer Ofori (AIK Stockholm, Sweden), Samuel Tetteh (Leifering, Austria) and Andre Ayew (West Ham, England).
Asamoah Gyan (Al Ahli, UAE) Jordan Ayew (Aston Villa, England), Ebenezer Assifuah (Sion, Switzerland), Bernard Tekpetey (Schalke, Germany) are the forwards.
Black Stars have been placed in Group D along with Egypt, Mali and Uganda.
