Editor-in-Chief of the News paper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has stated that the order of President John Mahama to release Montie 3 contemnors in August 2016 is also a reason for his defeat in the presidential elections because many people were against this decision.

Montie 3
According to him, President Mahama should not pardon them and Montie 3 saga didn’t had positive impacts on the party and their elections campaigns.
Montie trio is a group of three persons; one is radio presenter, Salifu Maase also known as Mugabe and two panelists, Godwin Ako Gunn and Alistair Tairo Nelson who were sentenced to jail by Supreme court for threatening judges and for making contemptuous statements against the High Court.
The two of them debilitated the lives of judges of the court on Accra-based radio station. They made these statements on a program called as ‘Pampaso’ also known as ‘Bia Gya’ [Open Fire] and Mugabe hosted that Program. The Supreme Court Ghana found them culpable and sentenced them to jail for four months and fined them ¢10,000.00 each.
After their conviction, many supporters of the NDC and numerous government appointees request President Mahama to pardon them by using his right of Presidency.
The President after consulting Council of State pardoned them but many leaders and people were not happy with his decision.
