Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr
Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has stated that giving out money to some traders whose things were damaged by the crowd due to the address of President in Abossey Okai during a campaign tour of Mahama of Greater Accra Region cannot be manipulated as bribing voters or vote buying through giving money.
He said, you cannot judge someone when you don’t know the reasons behind his actions. Mahama gave money to Traders because their things were destroyed and to overcome their loss he offered them money. What was wrong in that? Mahama didn’t give them money for any political interest.
In the video captured on yesterday, 23 September, President Mahama was seen handing out money to young traders in the crowd and according to critics and opponent parties, he was buying voters ahead for 2016 December elections.
However, later on President has explained in an interview to Accra newspaper that he was simply remunerating the traders who lost their stock as a consequence of the problem his existence in the region brought on.
On this debate that either President was buying voters or he was compensating their loss, Mr Baako said on a TV program Saturday that, ‘We all have watched the video very carefully and ended up on a result that it can’t be a vote-buying exercise.’
