Up till now presidential nomination forms are distributed from Electoral Commission (EC) into 22 parties and individuals to contest for president in the December polls.
These include fifteen political parties and 7 independent presidential aspirants. The political parties include the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the United Development System Party (UDSP), the National Democratic Party (NDP), the United Love Party (ULP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC).
Others are the United Progressive Party (UPP), the Independent People’s Party (IPP), the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Democratic People’s Party (DPP), the United Front Party (UFP), All People’s Congress (APC), Reformed Patriotic Democrats (RPD) and Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP).
The independent candidates are Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah, Mr. Kwaku Antwi Owusu, Mr. Lawrence Yamil Nketia, Mr. Kwame Asiedu Walker, Chief Dr. Yaw Kumi, Major Ibrahim Rida (rtd) and John Alex Hamah.
On Tuesday the 13th September 2016, EC started allotting nominations.
Parliamentary candidates will pay GHS 10,000 and Presidential candidates are going to pay a filing fee of GHS 50,000.
