Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Nesrin Bayazit, Dr Spio-Garbrah, and another guest at the event
In Accra, 1st Turkish Products Fair has opened at the Movenpik Hotel with over 50 exhibitors from Turkey displaying various wares.
The Trade Fair put together by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and currently started need to contribute the expansion of economic and trade relations between Ghana and Turkey.
Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah Trade and Industry Minister said while speaking at the launch of the fair urged the Turkish business community to engage its Ghanaian counterparts as shareholders on the local front.
He said human resource of Ghana is one of the most important resources so I encourage you to make them as part of shareholders.
Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah added he is looking at a joint venture that will benefit the two countries; I want to also commend government of Turkey for reposing hope into our economy, although few months later there are elections to be held, still it has to be decided to provide the required platform for a joint venture.
He suggested to the Turkish community to think Ghana as a planned trade partner taking into account its geographical position as it is center of the earth.
Her Excellency Nesrin Bayazit, Turkey Ambassador to Ghana said that “Ghana is 4th largest trade partner of Turkey in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The trade volume between 2 countries reached about $400 million in 2015. Turkeys imports from Ghana to $170m and it export to Ghana amounted to $230m.
