According to the confirmation by the English media, the deputy captain of Ghana, Andre Ayew has signed a sign 4-year deal with West Ham United.
Ayew joined the English Premier League side, Swansea city last summer as a free agent, but became the top goal scorer for the club with 12 goals and two assists in 34 games in all competition for the Welsh based club.
His new club, West Ham United ends their last season on seventh position in the Premier League table and has already played in the UEFA Europa League last season.
The Hammers were keeping eye on the following – Carlos Bacca, Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi, but choose Andre Ayew in the end as he knows the English Premier League very well.
He became the first Ghanaian international, who lead Black Satellites to win Ghana’s and Africa’s only FIFA U-20 World Cup triumph in 2009 and later on performs well in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Since, Ayew has become the permanent member of the national team of Ghana; he has impressed everyone with his performance and currently leads Black Stars in absence of Asamoah Gyan.
With this deal, Andre Ayew becomes West Ham United’s record buy for a Club-record £20.5million fee.
Ayew has a record of scoring at four major international tournaments and he has been an impressive performer for both Olympique Marseille and Swansea City.
He scored for black Stars twice at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and three goals during Ghana’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign to claim that tournament’s Golden Boot.
Andre has been runner-up twice in the Africa Cup of Nations and a winner of FIFA U20 World Cup – scoring 11 goals in 67 appearances for the Black Stars so far in his six year career with the national team of Ghana.
