Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu
New Patriotic Party’s acting General Secretary John Boadu has said that, President John Mahama would be an ungracious being if he denies to cause the discharge of radio host Salifu Maase, aka Mugabe who has been prisoned by the Supreme Court.
According to him, Mugabe has over the past one year been regularly doing the attempting of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the President by character shooting political opponents, adding that it will be no wonder if President Mahama grants him forgiveness.
2 others Godwin Ako Gunn and Alistair Nelson, who were panelist on the Pampaso show presented by Mugabe, were found guilty of horrifying the court, disobeying and lowering the authority of the Supreme Court and taking it into disrepute.
The 2 on June 29, cautioned judges of Ghana’s highest court to be cautious of their conduct in the case concerning the Electoral Commission and Mr Abu Ramadan if they did not want to grieve the fate of the 3 members of the board who were gunshot to death and also burnt on June 30, 1982 in the period of the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC).
Thus, the Supreme Court gave a 4 months jail term each to the 3 men. They were also charged GHC 10,000 each due by Thursday July 28, which one failure to pay will invite another one month sentence. Therefore, the NDC party has since paid the fines.
So, the devotees of the NDC have made pressure on President John Mahama and leaders of the party to use his administrative powers as preserved in Article 72 of the constitution to award the 3 jailed persons forgiveness. The supporters overwhelmed the party Headquarters in Adabraka on Thursday, requesting the instant release of the 3, during which some supporters spoiled President Mahama’s posters in anger.
Dr Kofi Portuphy, National Chairman of the NDC has disclosed to the media that, there is much pressure on the National Executives to make sure the release of the trio.
Addressing to the media on Friday, John Boadu stated that the whole country is watching what decision President Mahama will take on the matter.
“Mugabe has confirmed to the whole world that he came to Ghana from the UK on purpose to work for Mahama and make sure that he wins the 2016 poll. He has done the muddy job of the President by running down political challengers. Now that he’s in distress the President must help him. The President can select to go forward and forgiveness Mugabe and the rest and we’ll understand what will happen.”
