John Alexander Ackon , the Ashanti regional Minister has rejected reports that the group of President John Mahama was attacked and bombarded with stones in the area on Wednesday June 29.
Media reports on Wednesday designated that Mahama’s group was hooted at and attacked with stones during his ‘Accounting to the People tour’ of the area.
According to the media sources, 2 citizens of Kumasi in the area were allegedly arrested for attacking the president’s group with stones.
The accused arrested were apparently among a group of people who were shouting at the president.
According to the media, one of the cars in the group was slightly dented and one person wounded as a result of the attack.
The sources said, the incident reportedly took place at Ejisu, where the president toured on Wednesday afternoon.
But in an interview with the media on Thursday, Mr. Ackon told that the reports are false and inaccurate.
He further expressed that, the President’s group is safe adding that no one attacked stones at any of the cars among the taskforce of cars.
Hence,“No one stoned the president’s group…I was in the group and the president’s group is safe,” Mr. Ackon said.
Meanwhile, the President is expected to continue with his tour of the region today.
