Last Thursday President Mahama inaugurated a new production plant for the GIHOC Distilleries and dismissed the perception that state enterprises are unable to perform effectively.
The plant is an outcome of the five-year strategic plan of the company. It is expected to improve production as well
Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s CPP government established GIHOC Distilleries. It is one of the 15 sub-divisions of the GIHOC Ghana Limited.
With the exception of the distilleries, which remained state owned, the remaining fourteen have been separated from after years of decomposing and mismanagement.
He said while inaugurating that, today as I stand here, I feel a sense of pride about what we have been able to do as a people, the tour was formed in the Greater Accra Region part of his accounting to the people tour.
The President said his vision was to evoke the dream of Dr Nkrumah and we are trying to make it reality step by step, either through public private partnership or through operating fully state-owned enterprises.
He praised the management and the company board for working hard to bring the company this far.
He said it’s all about leadership, because with the right leadership confidence of workers are more confident with the company and they will be more successful this way.
