On Thursday evening, a young boy in his early age allegedly brutalized to death by the police in the Ashanti region town of Krofuom.
A young man name was Osei Tawaih, was coming back from a public toilet when the police patrol team pursuing on a motorbike two criminals mistook him for one of the criminals, and shot him to serious beatings until he became unaware and died.
According to observers, not even a request of innocence from the residents and the young man’s foster mother could hold down the police from using their teaser and gun butts on him.
The mother said on FM radio the her son coming from town to leave his backpack at home to hear nature’s call.
After the death his body of the deceased was later dumped at the Manhyia Government Hospital by the police without going through the essential paper works.
Frustrated by the gruesome murder, residents of Krofuom poured onto the streets Friday morning to complaint the action of the police.
They tire to burnt the car and blocked some key roads as their anger swells.
The residents numbering more than 300 are trying justice for Osei Tawiah, and do not want to have the police existence in the area awaiting their demand is met.
Therefore, they are calling on the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye to live up to his tribute as a productive police officer by bringing his men to book.
