Mr. Augustine Michael Owusu is the acting Eastern Regional Chairman of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), who has requested for the government to do more to progress on the conditions of service for workers.
He noted that in spite of the constant hard work and vital support to the socio-economic progress of the state, workers were not receiving the reward they deserved.
Speaking a ‘May Day’ celebration in Koforidua, he told that the government should give to them their unpaid.
“Election 2016, the role of staff in acquiring a peaceful elections concerning national development’’ was the subject for this year’s event.
Mr. Owusu used the event to encourage all eligible voters, who had not listed to take benefit of the limited voters’ registration exercise to contract their names on the electoral roll.
Hence, he also asked the people to make the right decision on voting day by electing caring and selfless leaders.
The Regional Minister, Ms. Mavis Ama Frimpong, also welcomed workers for the major contribution to the nation’s progress.
She recommended all to be mindful of their statements and avoid doing whatsoever that could create confusion.
Mr. Patrick Adjetey Adjei of the Centre for National Culture, Suhum, who was declared the overall best worker in the area, was rewarded with citation and a table-top fridge.
