An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday remanded a 39 year- old Carpenter, Benjamin Danso for owning fire arm and ammunition without lawful authority.
Benjamin appealed not guilty to the charge but was jailed into police custody to reappear on April 21, for hearing.
Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu giving the facts of the case told the court that the plaintiff, Paul Mensah is a security man at Toppers Hotel located at St John’s, a suburb of Accra, while the defendant person lives at Nanakrom.
He said on 31 March, at about 04:00 hours, the suspect person together with a female checked into the hotel. Later in the day Benjamin checked out without paying his dues.
The tribunal said the administrator confronted him to request the bill per the rules and regulations of the hotel, but a confusion ensued between them, which drew the responsiveness of the complainant who was in a close room.
He said in the event, the plaintiff suspected Benjamin’s behaviour and showed a search on him. 3 live bullets were found in his pocket.
Police Chief Inspector Adu said the plaintiff detained Benjamin and handed him over to the police.
He told the court that upon examination, the suspect person mentioned one Sait as the one who gave him the bullets but could not lead the police to detention him.
