Suspended National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, is set to give evidence as a witness in the suit brought by a different suspended national executive Sammy Crabbe, who is challenging the decision of the party asking him to step sideways as 2nd vice chairman.
The decision to draw Mr. Afoko into the witness box became essential following questions raised by the Sammy Crabbe’s lawyers over the ability of one member of the party’s disciplinary committee, Madam Gifty Kusi.
The appeal of the plaintiff, which was vehemently objected to by lawyers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was ultimately granted by the court.
The suspended Vice Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) opted to go to court months after his suspension by the National Executive Council, citing violation of the rules of ordinary justice, mistake on the face of the records and a breach of process.
Mr. Crabbe was suspended indefinitely last year, next to the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
The suspension of the two came after the suspension of the National Chairman Paul Afoko.
They were suspended for “misconduct” which incorporated an ignore for party structures.
The two are also seen as associates to Mr. Afoko. Mr. Crabbe, who is perceived as an ally to the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko, refused to show before the NPP’s committee after numerous invitations before his suspension.
