Where other musicians choose to sing about partying, women, fancy cars and money, there’s one artist, Obibini who has preferred to bring a social change by targeting skin bleaching in his new song, dubbed, ‘Wayuusu’.
In his track, Obibini takes a dig at women who all of a sudden become hard to recognize because of skin bleaching. He says that the confirmation of bleaching can be seen at their knees, elbows and back of their necks.
He recommends these women to accept their striking black complexion and be proud of their natural beauty.
In Wayuusu, Obibini uses a mixture of Twi, English and Pidgin to deliver his words based on advice to the public.
The song has a very captivating melody and tempo, which is likely to get listeners paying attention to the message he is trying to convey.
In an interview, Obibini, known in real life as Kwaku Boafo said he was aggravated to record the song because of the rising trend of skin bleaching among the youth.
“Many people are uninformed about the risk they put themselves into just because they want to bleach their skin. I know many celebs such as Ama K Abebrese and Akosua Agyepong have already pointed out some fear regarding the situation but I felt I also had to put in my efforts,” he said.
Moreover, he also disclosed that he is set to release a brand new mixtape in April, titled Obibini the Mixtape 2 and requested his fans to look forward to this.
