President John Mahama has declared plans to make Ghana the medical center for the sub-region.
Speaking the 4th graduation ceremony of the Perez University College in Accra the president told there will the growth of existing health facilities through the country.
We have such values of excellence in the medical field that other people from the continent search for medical help could come to Ghana and do that.
Even now, I understand that in the cardio center we have patients who come from the other West African countries to have open heart surgery.
He speak that it is the similar for the cancer and radiation centre and plastic and burns centers also. We want to develop this so that more people will come and use Ghana as a medical center.
The president mentioned a number of plans being implemented in the health segment which he spoke were aimed at transforming the segment.
In 2010 as vice president of this country I had the confidential of launching the MASTESS projects. It is the math, science and technology scholarship schemes.
It gives full support to brilliant but needy pupils who are studying in the field of science and technology.
He stated, I am happy to declare that since we launched it in 2010, 9,000 young students in science and technology have aided from the scheme.
The president accused the ministry of environment, science and technology to make more awareness about the animation of the scheme.
He also requested tertiary institutions to focus on topics that give practical skills to pupils.
He repeated the vision to make Ghana an educational center, mentioning the number of foreign students who are getting knowledge in the several tertiary institutions in the country.
