Ex-Black Stars international Kwame Ayew urges that Ghanaian national team’s skipper Asamoah Gyan’s departure from the senior national squad is not foretelling.
Former Udinese and Sunderland striker is eager to be fit enough to lead Ghana at Russia 2018 World Cup and in Gabon for 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Gyan has scored 48 times for the Black Stars in 93 appearances since his debut against Somalia back on November 9th, 2003.
Ayew told in an interview:
“I have no clue about Asamoah Gyan’s retirement because every player is unique. I still trust he can play for some more years. He is the captain of our national team and I fully support him to live on the pitch for some more time.”
Gyan struggled for fitness last year at his Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG. He is chasing his fourth World Cup appearance.
